mussoorie

Mussoorie is a very beautiful hill station in Uttarakhand, also known as the Queen of Hills. Nestled in the lap of the Himalayas, Mussoorie is a popular destination for honeymooners. When severe heat grips northern India during summers, Mussoorie serves as a great option for spending vacations. The snow-covered hills and valleys filled with deodar forests in Mussoorie create incredibly scenic views. For those embarking on pilgrimages to Gangotri and Yamunotri, Mussoorie serves as a gateway.

My elder brother works in the Indian Railways in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, which is adjacent to Uttarakhand. We planned a trip to Mussoorie from there. The distance from Saharanpur to Mussoorie by road is approximately 3 hours. Passing through Dehradun from Saharanpur, we headed towards Mussoorie. The entire journey was very scenic with sharp turns. Along the way, we stopped at various viewpoints and took photos. After a pleasant journey, we reached Mussoorie. The weather in Mussoorie was very pleasant.

There are many places to visit in Mussoorie. Here’s detailed information about some of them:

➥ Mall Road
Mall Road is the heart of Mussoorie and the center of its main attractions. On one side, you see hills, and on the other, a panoramic view of valleys. It is always crowded with people, and benches are placed along the road for sitting. Here, people capture the natural beauty in their cameras. Mall Road also hosts excellent restaurants where you can enjoy various delicious dishes. Calling Mall Road the heart of Mussoorie wouldn’t be an exaggeration.

➥ Kempty Falls
Located 15 kilometers from Mussoorie city, Kempty Falls is the second most important place here. It was developed by the British for hosting tea parties. This place was most liked by us. The cool water cascading down from the hills forms a round pool resembling a swimming pool. People enjoy bathing in this pool immensely. After bathing, eating hot pakoras felt very good.

➥ Gun Hill
Located on the second highest peak of Mussoorie, Gun Hill is accessible via a cable car. In ancient times, shots were fired from here to signal time, hence the name Gun Hill. I felt the purity of the air at this place. Due to its height, the air here was very cool.
