Malshej Ghat, located between Pune and Mumbai in the Western Ghats, is a very beautiful place. During the monsoon season, Malshej Ghat is known for its cascading waterfalls from the high mountains. I have had the opportunity to visit here twice, and both times we thoroughly enjoyed its natural beauty.
The highlight of Malshej Ghat is the large waterfall where there is usually a crowd of people. In Maharashtra, waterfalls are locally referred to as ‘Dhabdhaba’. Bathing under this waterfall is a delightful experience. We spent a long time enjoying ourselves under this waterfall.
There is a resort of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) located beyond this large waterfall. There is good arrangement for staying and dining at this resort. If you want to stay here, you will need to book online.
We went here for dining. Behind this resort, there is a very large park from where the mountains and valleys of Malshej Ghat look very beautiful. It was very enjoyable to roam around here and see the lush green mountains. There are many swings for children to play in the resort. Everyone should definitely visit this resort.
As we moved ahead from the resort, we started seeing very tall mountains. These mountains were filled with clouds, and many waterfalls were cascading down from them. In Malshej Ghat, the road is constructed in such a way that the water from these flowing waterfalls on the mountains falls onto the road after cutting through the rocks.
People park their cars here, play music, and dance and enjoy getting wet in the waterfalls. During the monsoon, this place becomes very attractive. There are two good viewpoints near the mountains from where Malshej Ghat looks very magnificent.
During the return journey from Malshej Ghat, we came across a very beautiful lake. Since it was a little off the main road, we had to walk to reach there. Walking on the paths through the beautiful green rice fields was very soothing.
When we reached the shores of the lake, we sat there for a long time, dipping our feet in the water. All the tiredness went away in no time.
Spending a weekend in Malshej Ghat during the monsoon is a very good option. Friends or family, make sure to visit Malshej Ghat at least once.
