Neelkantheshwar Temple Pune is located on a small hill between Khadakwasla Dam and Panshet Dam which is very near to sinhagad fort, about 40 kilometers from Pune City. At the flat top of the hill, under the open sky, magnificent sculptures of gods and goddesses have been installed.
This place beautifully depicts various religious scenes through sculpture art, such as the churning of the ocean, Draupadi’s cheer-haran, Mohini avatar, waking up Kumbhakarna from sleep, and Lord Rama building the bridge with the help of monkeys.
What I found most impressive at Neelkantheshwar Temple Pune are the gigantic sculptures of Lord Vithal, Sant Dnyaneshwar and Sant Tukaram, situated on the edge of the hill.
Due to their placement along the hillside, against the backdrop of the sky, these sculptures look truly divine. After exploring Sinhgad Fort, you can visit Neelkantheshwar Temple on the same day and return to Pune.
